House Sounds

The other night ES and I awoke to an odd thump followed by a bump, bump, bump. My first thought (having lived for too many years in the "big" city) was that someone was trying to or had already made it into the house. The cat freaked out and ran under the bed. Perhaps this is why a dog would be a good thing...but I digress...ES checked the downstairs and I looked around upstairs. We didn't find anything out of order. We checked the garage the next morning and didn't see anything. Although, to be fair, we now have so much stuff out in the garage, it's our next organization project (sigh..again). This included the Christmas tree which we have been unsuccessful at pulling apart (the pre-lit variety) so it can fit back in its box. For now, it's just propped up on the BBQ. ES even checked outside. Nothing. Still a mystery. Perhaps one day we'll find out what fell when we tackle the unseen hidden (i.e. buried) stuff out in the garage....

Hey Guys,
I hear that "bump-in-the-night stuff all the time too. Some I can explain, others it just downright creepy cuz there is no viable explanation.

Some sources of noises in the night I have found to be: the cat jumping from Matthew's bunk bed to the floor, the icemaker dumping a fresh batch of ice into the ice container. Other sounds sometimes come from the garage in what I suspect are mice that accidentally knock something over.

We have had three incincences since we have been at this house which have truly been scary. First one was when we first moved into this house. We were all in bed when I heard the house alarm panel beep twice (it will do that when a door or window is opened) followed by what sounded like somebody rummaging thru the kitchen cabinets.

Second time was our dog was standing halfway down the stair in the night, growling at something. Patricia got me up, we went down the stairs and before we reached the end of the stairs, the little red light on the motion sensor kept going on and off (something was moving in the living room area). I turned on the lights, looked around and found nothing.

Third time and most recent, Pumpking went storming down the steps, ran to the back door and started barking violently at something in the back yard. Patricia swears there was a person in our back yard, trying to enter thru the back door.

So, hey, dont worry! It's just your imagination!
